Conscious Sedation
CONSCIOUS SEDATION
Conscious sedation is defined as “a controlled, pharmacologically induced, minimally depressed level of consciousness that retains the patient’s ability to maintain a patent airway independently and continuously, with the ability to respond appropriately to physical stimulation and/or verbal command. This eases the patient and reduces the anxiety of the patient
GENERAL ANESTHESIA FOR FULL MOUTH CARIES/RAMPANT CARIES/DENTAL EXTRACTIONS
General anesthesia is defined as “an induced state of unconsciousness accompanied by partial or complete loss of protective reflexes, including the ability to independently maintain an airway and respond.
Child patients are difficult to hold calm for longer periods and General anesthesia is allowed for the ease of operation for lengthy procedures. Patients requiring full mouth rehabilitation for dental caries , multiple dental extractions(teeth removal)require longer sitting periods and multiple appointments.Procedure is time consuming, unpleasant and tiring for the patient,so general anesthesia presents as a perfect solution.
